eVestment's Top Hedge Funds In June 2019
Industry tracker eVestment sends AlphaWeek a list of the funds on its platform which received the most views by its asset owner subscribers and consultants in the previous month. A new face emerged, quite refreshingly, this month, with Paris, France's La Francaise Global Investment Solutions' LFIS Vision - Premia Opportunities fund receiving the most clicks this month. Another new face, CVC Global Credit Partners' Global Credit Opportunities Master Fund came in second place, with eVestment subscriber favourie AQR's DELTA strategy coming third.
At the firm level, Marshall Wace was the winner, with its MW TOPS Fund being the most viewed fund produced by the firm. La Francaise came in second, thanks to its win in the most viewed fund category, and Man Group came in third, with its Man Alternative Risk Premia Strategies fund the most viewed product of the London-based listed investment manager.
At the strategy level, for the sixth month in a row, perhaps unsurprisingly, given the continued bull run in stocks this year, fundamental long/short equity wins out again. A new face was the most viewed product in that category, however, with Frontier Investment Management Partners' FIM EM Frontier Fund receiving the most eyeballs. AQR's DELTA Strategy came second, representing Multi-strategy, multi-markets, and Towers Watson Investment Management's Towers Watson Alternative Credit Fund was the most viewed fund of hedge funds, the third most popular category.
La Francaise Global Investment Solutions' LFIS Vision - Premia Opportunities fund, CVC Global Credit Partners' Global Credit Opportunities Master Fund and Frontier Investment Management Partners' FIM EM Frontier Fund were the biggest movers based on the change in their 6-month moving average, and the management firms also took the top three spots at the firm level, based on the increase in views vs. the 6-month moving average. At the strategy level, however, Relative Value - Credit Relative Value, Relative Value - Capital Structure Relative Value and Managed Futures - Quantitative - perhaps given the resurgence in trend following strategies in 2019 - were the three strategies that saw the largest increase in views vs. the past 6 months.
As always, we'll be on the lookout for any news of any allocations to these managers in the coming months. Drop us a line if you hear any gossip!
