eVestment Launches Digital Assets Hedge Fund Universe
To meet rising demand from investors, investment consultants and hedge fund managers for sharing information about digital assets investment opportunities and comparing them to other investment opportunities, eVestment, the global leader in institutional investment data and analytics, has launched a digital assets universe on its industry-leading hedge fund database.
Digital assets could include crypto currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum or Litecoin, and could also include other digital assets such as initial coin offerings. The universe will be able to accommodate new, yet-to-be-developed digital assets as this space evolves over time.
Submitting digital assets hedge fund data to eVestment will be free for fund managers, as are all data submissions to eVestment. For clients using the eVestment hedge fund database, access to the new digital assets universe will be included in their subscription. Multi-strategy hedge fund managers with digital assets investments among their strategies will continue to submit to the eVestment multi-strategy fund universe where they can note their digital assets in their fund narrative.
“We’re seeing the most interest in digital assets hedge funds among family offices, fund of funds and high-net-worth individuals right now, but it’s only a matter of time before larger institutional investors become interested in this as well,” said eVestment Vice President Chris Sparenberg. “We look forward to providing the most comprehensive look at this interesting and fast-growing investment opportunity to our clients.”
Data fields in the digital assets universe will mirror fields in other hedge fund universes and will include return expectations, market exposure, investment process and process type. This will allow eVestment users to compare digital assets hedge funds to the thousands of other alternative and traditional investment opportunities available for review on eVestment as they do their investment due diligence, make investments and monitor those investments once they’ve been made.
