Osmosis Investment Management's Market Neutral Strategy Receives Seed
Osmosis Investment Management, the London based sustainable asset manager, has announced Dutch asset manager Anthos Fund & Asset Management as the seed investor for the Osmosis Resource Efficient Market Neutral Strategy (5x levered) in a Cayman Island vehicle.
The strategy will target sustainable absolute returns from Resource Efficiency regardless of market direction, through a market neutral, dollar neutral, global equity long/short strategy. Utilising a proprietary research process, the Osmosis Model of Resource Efficiency targets alpha in both the long and the short book. This is achieved by actively rewarding those companies that, according to the model, are more resource efficient than their same sector peers while shorting those that are identified as inefficient.
Ben Dear, Chief Executive Officer at Osmosis Investment Management, said:
“Osmosis and Anthos Fund & Asset Management share similar values and the belief that as the world transitions to a more sustainable economy, there will be both corporate leaders and laggards. Our research has evidenced that those companies who are better placed to deal with the challenges ahead will ultimately be rewarded by the market, while those that systematically refuse to change, or that are to slow to adapt, will destroy shareholder value. Closing this seed investment, despite the restrictions placed on both parties by the pandemic is evidence that the industry wheels continue to turn, and we thank the team at Anthos Fund & Asset Management for their support over this period. With AUM now rising above $100 million against our alternative strategies and firm wide AUM approaching $2 billion we are clearly seeing momentum building around our investment philosophy. We welcome Anthos Fund & Asset Management to our roster of forward thinking, sustainability focussed return driven investors.”
Reinoud van leperen Bokhorst and Matthew David Kaplan, Managing Directors, Absolute Return Strategies at Anthos Fund & Asset Management, added:
“At Anthos Fund & Asset Management, we are committed to providing superior risk-adjusted returns to our clients without compromising our founding principles. We are stewards of capital as well as stewards of our planet: our primary objective is to maximise financial performance and to achieve this over the long-term we, investors, must not deplete the planet’s natural resources. Osmosis’s investment thesis that targets strong financial returns by allocating capital to the most resource efficient companies unites us in a common ethos.”
